BHUTAN is also know as "THE DRAGON KINGDOM" of as Druk Yul "The land of Thunder Dragon, is perhaps the last Shangri-La. Bhutan a purely Buddhist Himalaya kingdom, is unsurpassed in its scenic. Majestic and vibrant culture. The kingdom shares with Nepal, the world's greatest concentration of mountain and living heritage of Buddhism. It is one of the few countries in the world still untouched, a paradise for tourist interested in Buddhist culture and philosophy, flora and fauna. trekking and mountaineering, In order to protect and preserve the culture and tradition from western influence, Bhutan accept only limited numbers of tourist in a year. It is the only country in the world where Mahayana sect of Buddhism is the state religion.

Trip to Bhutan, can be arranged with Nepal-Tibet package tour. Flights from Kathmandu to Paro (the only airfield of Bhutan) are twice a week, i.e., Monday and Thursday.

PARO: This beautiful terraced valley is home to many of Bhutan's oldest temples and its first airport. The national Museum is located in an ancient watchtower here and Taktsang Monastery clings to sheer cliffs 900m above the valley.

THIMPU: The capital city of Bhutan, center of Government religion and commerce, has grown alongside monasteries and forts from the earliest fortress monastery Simkolda Dzong, built in 1627.

PUNAKHA: Spectacular views of the Himalayas can be seen on the road from Thump to Punakha Dzong, where the Rho Chu rivers converge below this winter home of the central monk body.

WANGDIPHODRANG: Below rich cattle pastures at the junction of the Mo Cho and Tang Chu rivers, a striking Dzong guards this windy valley.

JOURNEY TO THE LAND OF THE DRAGON KINGDOM OF BHUTAN
 
DAY 01: ARRIVAL - PARO
The flight into the Himalaya reveals breathtaking views of the great peaks MT EVEREST, MT KANCHANJUNGA, MT CHOMOLHARI, MT JICHU DRAKE, etc., taking you right into the Dragon Kingdom's scraping airstrip at PARO. On arrival you will be greeted and transferred through the beautiful PARO valley to Hotel. Dinner & overnight at hotel.
 
DAY 02: IN PARO
AM: visit the old for ruins of the DRUKGYAL DZONG (castle) which offers a very scenic drove of a typical Bhutanese landscape. On the clear day, the Mt CHOMOLHARI (7314 m), the sacred summit reaches skyward beyond the Dzong. On the way back, visit TA DZONG, the national museum housed in the ancient watch tower build in around 1651, situated a little above the PARO RIMPUNG DZONG. PM: After lunch, scenic drive to THIMPU (65 Km/2 hrs) and visit MEMORIAL CHORTEN, SCHOOL FOR PAINTING & MEDICINE, the national library and Bhutanese handicraft center - overnight at hotel.
 
DAY 03: THIMPU - PARO
AM: Visit TASHICHO DZONG (presently Govt. secretariat building which requires special permit for the visit. So, permit could be declined. In that case, visit is organized to have just an external view). After this, visit  Bhutanese cottage industry for local paper production. PM: After lunch, drive back to PARO (2 hrs) and visit KICHU LAKHANG (the oldest monastery in BHUTAN) - Overnight at hotel.
 
DAY 04: PARO - DEPARTURE
After early breakfast, drive to airport for departure flight to your onward destination.

GREAT TOUR TO THE HIDDEN KINGDOM – BHUTAN
 
Day 01 : ARRIVAL - PARO

Morning scenic drive to THIMPU (2 hr.). Transfer to hotel. Afternoon, sightseeing to the MEMMORIAL CHORTEN of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck in the heart of Thimpu town, TASHICHHO DZONG (the Fortress of the Auspicious Religion, presently Govt. secretariat building). - Overnight hotel.
 
Day 03 : IN PARO
Morning drive back to PARO (2 hrs) - check in to hotel and the sightseeing begins with a visit to the ruins of  DRUKGYAL DZONG (18 Km.). This Dzong is of historical importance, from whose ramparts the Bhutanese repelled Tibetan invaders. On a clear day, the 24,000 ft. white-domed peak of sacred CHOMOLHARI (Mountain of Goddess) looms overhead. After lunch at the hotel, visit TA DZONG, the National Museum housed in an ancient watchtower, which has a fine collection of ancient Thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons and artifacts. Overnight at hotel.
 
Day 04 : PARO - EXCURSION TO TAKTSANG LHAKANG.
AM: After breakfast drive to SARTSHAM CHORTEN and then two hours of horse riding uphill will take you to the TAKTSANG MONASTERY. After refreshment, a short trek to the view point to witness a fascinating eye-level view of the famous TAKTSANG LHAKHANG also known as the tigers' nest. PM: After lunch a slow downhill trek to SARTSHAM CHORTEN and then drive to Hotel. - Overnight hotel.
 
Day 05 : PARO - DEPARTURE
After early breakfast, drive to airport for departure flight to your onward destination.
